So it’s 2:00 in the morning, and I take a break from Page 63 to go check out the Engine… I love Warren Ellis. It’s not just his books–although I love PLANETARY and TRANSMETROPOLITAN and DESOLATION JONES and all kinds of projects that he does. It’s that he THINKS about making comics. He doesn’t just think about the business of comics, or the plotlines, or the characters–he thinks about MAKING comics. And he wants other [...]
A couple of good friends now have blogs up, which they actually update: Josh, Writer of Stories Queenie, Knitress of Frilly Things Moonshine Page Count: 63
There’s nothing more pathetic than a website that hasn’t been updated in months (or years), so in the interest of jump-starting this stalled endeavor, here is a little something I like to call… “NEW COMICS–NOV.9″ DMZ #1 Finally–a Brian Wood fix. If I grow up, I want to be just like Brian Wood–fantastic design sense, mature level of political reponsibility, indie cred, and his own line of screen-printed t-shirts–and now, an ongoing series from Vertigo. GOOD NEWS: The long-delayed photoshoot for the next chunk of MOONSHINE finally took place last night at the spacious Casa Johns. (Thanks David, Josh and Nat.) BAD NEWS: Due to preparation for said shoot, I missed the majority of GILMORE GIRLS . The reveal towards the end of the movie is supposedly one of those “twist” endings [...]
It’s been a crazy, eventful couple of weeks since we got back from APE. Chock-full of real-life dreariness. Pleasantly, life-threatening medical issues are now behind us, as well as legal lawsuit issues. It’s nice to feel like I’ve suddenly got a normal life back again. Natalie and I enjoyed a wonderfully tasty celebratory dinner at the very recommendable Cucina Toscana. With said garbage behinf us, I’m now starting on the second half of MOONSHINE. IT’s [...]
